Taj Mahal  

Taj Mahal was built by Shah Jehan in the memory of his beloved wife Arjumand Banu Begum who was also known as Mumtaz Mahal.  It is situated at Agra, Utter Pradesh in India.  Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jehan were married in 1612.  They had 14 children in 18 years of married life.  Mumtaz Mahal died in 1630 during childbirth.  Shah Jehan loved his wife so dearly that he decided to build a grand tomb in memory of his wife.  And the result was this most beautiful building in the whole world.  In fact this building is one of the nine wonders of the world.

This building is built in white marble and have Mugal style architectural design that combines with Indian Muslim, Hindu and Persian design.  There is a main entrance, garden, mosque, rest house and Taj Mahal.  The tomb of Mumtaj Mahal is situated in Taj Mahal.  Whole building is carved with beautiful calligraphic design and inlaid gemstones.
